Job Description

​At Jacobs, our Power Solutions team is geared towards providing a more integrated approach offering end-to-end service to support our clients in energy networks, thermal generation, renewable generation and storage solutions space.  We are helping our clients meet the challenges faced in countries and cities across the globe, providing innovative solutions from replacing conventional thermal power plants with renewable energy to developing demand side management strategies.

As a Technical Director HVDC, you will work closely with our operations, sales, and technology teams as we expand our energy transition portfolio with a particular focus on APAC, and supporting HVDC project delivery in geographies readily serviced from Singapore.

You will engage with our clients, develop holistic concept plans and solutions, then take these through subsequent stages to provide for full execution of the solution.  

Your primary responsibilities will focus upon providing advisory, resource assessment and concept project solutions for HVDC project development and technical delivery as part of our Power team.  You will be supporting Jacobs deliver advisory and services across the wider energy transition sector where HVDC may be one of the energy production or storage opportunities on offer.  You will collaborate with our Technical Leadership, Operations, Client Account Managers and sales professionals on pursuits of strategic importance to the firm, and in the internal promotion of energy as a possible solution for our existing multi-sector client base.  You’ll be expected demonstrate collaboration and high levels of communication and problem-solving skills.

Your role will include the following activities:

Develop Jacobs’ capabilities and reputation in Asia and the rest of APAC, develop the internal understanding of HVDC within Jacobs – particularly with Client Account Managers, representing Jacobs at selected events and conferences.

Prepare papers with others in Jacobs, partner organizations, or clients, Foster collaborative teamwork amongst our growing HVDC team in APAC, and with global skill centers that can support our projects. Support the progressive growth of our HVDC team by identifying skills needed / available to enhance our service delivery, and support recruitment activities

Deliver projects that enhance Jacob’s reputation, Reservoir engineering, drilling, resource assessment, project development concept planning in relation to HVDC studies. Deliver technically excellent studies and consultancy services. Enhance our reputation with clients through strong service delivery. Maintain compliance with Jacobs QA procedures, including the deliverables review QA process (Global skills are available to support).

Drive business development and be responsible for work winning, identify the next opportunities and support the win of the opportunities Contribute to business planning for the wider Energy Transition team in Jacobs. Monitor market trends and project opportunities. Prepare unsolicited proposals for target clients, bid preparation and submittals as required, support sales leads, client account managers, and project managers in the delivery of financially successful proposals. develop and maintain strong key client relationships. Develop client relationships so as to act as a trusted advisor to a select group of Jacobs key clients across the public and private sector.  Support Client Account Managers to proactively identify opportunities that can raise our profile and reputation with clients. promote safety culture within the organization and with our clients. Be engaged in the safety culture of Jacobs and promote safety in all aspects of project delivery.

Proactively manage the HSE requirements on projects. Travel within APAC as may be required for client interaction, representation at events, or project delivery. International travel may also be required.

Here's What You'll Need:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, master’s degree is also preferred.

Experience in HVDC projects both local and international  Advanced Understanding of EPCM project phases and management. Understanding of and ability to follow Company & Client policies and procedures.  Understanding HSE regulations and construction standards

Advanced Understanding commercial terms involved on EPCM projects. Ability to develop appropriate corporate strategies. Thorough understanding key business drivers and of all functions on EPCM contracts. Ability to analyze, edit and present management reports and provide analysis on base-line excursions from norm. Ability to review/develop and communicate appropriate project strategies

Ability to utilize Company support resources. Ability to assess personnel’ performance, identify potential, and implement cost control measures
