About the Role
As a Principal Solutions Architect, you’ll be a trusted advisor to Cloudflare’s most strategic enterprise customers. You’ll guide digital transformation by aligning business outcomes with Cloudflare’s technology platform—including our network, application, security, and developer services.
You’ll speak the “customer language”, understand the CxO mindset, and influence technology decisions at the intersection of risk, resilience, and innovation. Whether it's advising a CISO on Zero Trust strategy or collaborating with developers on distributed application design using Cloudflare’s Developer Platform, you’ll help our customers reimagine how the Internet works for them.
What You’ll Do
Serve as a strategic technical advisor for Cloudflare’s top enterprise customers and prospects.
Engage at C-level (CIO, CTO, CISO) to influence technology roadmaps and position Cloudflare as a digital transformation partner.
Facilitate architectural visioning and roadmap workshops that connect business value to Cloudflare’s platform capabilities—including emerging use cases in edge compute and serverless development.
Partner with Enterprise Architects and Engineering teams to co-design secure, scalable architectures that leverage Cloudflare’s global network.
Translate industry trends (Zero Trust, Digital Sovereignty, AI workloads) into actionable architectural strategies for customers.
Guide clients across the engagement lifecycle: initial strategy, technical design, proof of concept, value realization, and ongoing success planning.
Identify product gaps and provide structured feedback to Product and Engineering teams; participate in roadmap reviews.
Inspire thought leadership through industry events, internal enablement, and technical storytelling.
What Success Looks Like
In your first 6 months:
You’ve built trusted executive relationships across 3–5 strategic accounts.
You’ve led 2–3 vision-setting or architecture workshops resulting in multi-year roadmap alignment.
You’ve shaped at least one key customer engagement involving i.e Cloudflare Developer Platform—demonstrating how edge-native services can accelerate innovation or reduce complexity.
What We’re Looking For
15+ years of experience in technical presales, enterprise architecture, or IT leadership (e.g., Chief Architect, CTO, CISO).
Fluent in both business and technology strategy: able to make ROI-driven business cases while diving deep into technical design.
Familiarity with transformation levers such as Zero Trust, cloud migration, developer productivity, and edge compute.
Strong experience working with modern application architectures (e.g., microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, CI/CD).
Exposure to developer-first platforms, serverless models, or edge computing frameworks (Cloudflare Workers, AWS Lambda, GCP Cloud Functions, etc.).
Comfortable engaging a range of personas—from infrastructure teams to app developers to the C-suite.
Confident in public speaking, customer workshops, and evangelizing new ideas internally and externally.
Bonus: Familiarity with frameworks like TOGAF, NIST SP 800-207, and cyber risk management principles.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, or related field.
Experience in regulated industries (FSI, Government, Telco) or complex multi-cloud/hybrid environments.
Hands-on technical curiosity and the ability to learn continuously—especially across networking, application performance, security, and developer services.
