As a geotechnical professional you will be provided with the opportunity to support the management, development and growth of Jacobs client base within infrastructure, mining, gas, power and water utilities sectors. To excel in this role, strategic thinking and communication skills to influence positive outcomes, effective leadership, development of new client relationships and technical delivery are key success factors.

Broader aspects of this position will require you to assist and manage bid processes, win work and provide support in the coaching and mentoring of new and existing Jacobs’ personnel to promote knowledge sharing and technical excellence within the team.

To excel in this role key success factors will include:

Able to lead a team of junior and intermediate engineers on a wide range of design and design review projects. Provision of technical quality and innovation; Proven experience undertaking and project managing geotechnical field investigations and the use of associated geotechnical software; Proven report writing skills; Demonstrate strong business acumen and client relationship skills; Demonstrate good people management and mentoring skills; Possess good communication skills that positively influence outcomes.

Have proven relevant effective project delivery experience and demonstrate a broad geotechnical competency. Establishes positive client relationships. Is proactive and anticipates client requirements. Takes personal responsibility for client satisfaction. Meets long term client needs. Shows genuine concern for clients’ needs, their emphasis on what is important and/or urgent and takes appropriate steps to meet their expectations.

Follows through – ensures that there is follow up on client enquires, request or complaints. Assists with the growth of the work pipeline. Identifies and contributes to geotechnical / multidiscipline bids. As appropriate, undertakes Project Manager roles.

Support the geotechnical lead in developing and enhancing capabilities and broadening areas of business. Integrates new learning into work methods. Completes tasks in accordance with plans. Verifies that the recommended approach or presented solution is correct and seeks guidance when the situation is unclear. Recognises and acts on present issues.

Here's What You'll Need:

Preferably Civil Engineering graduate or Masters in Geotechnical Engineering, having good experience in geotechnical design firm (experience in infrastructure projects and geotechnical engineering), excellent verbal and written communication skills, good experience in various areas of geotechnical investigation (includes preparation of Scope, specification, BoQ & layout), design of shallow and deep foundations.

Software Skills; PLAXIS-2D & 3D, LPILE, GROUP, GEOSLOPE (SLOPE/W & SEEP/W), APILE, SHAFT, OYSYS, FREW, GRL WEAP etc.

Experience should include, earth retention system, tunnelling, slope risk assessment, seepage analysis, embankment design and associated infrastructure projects, sound understanding of relevant geotechnical international and local standards, proven experience working in a detail design and EPC environment would be advantageous, sound interpersonal and technical management skills demonstrated ability to lead a group of geotechnical engineers in delivering solutions, proactive and quick learner, preparation of technical notes, interpretative reports and interaction with contractors & clients, geotechnical Investigation experience.
