The Trade Desk is seeking an APAC General Accounting Manager to lead our accounting and reporting activities for the Asia Pacific region. As part of our global accounting team, this role will oversee regional US GAAP accounting to ensure accurate, appropriate and timely recording of our financial activities. A successful candidate should possess: an in-depth understanding of US GAAP financial accounting, the ability to manage teams through tight deadlines and the readiness to roll up their sleeves. This role reports to the APAC Controller and is based in Shanghai.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of accounting and reporting for the APAC region in accordance with the month-end close calendar under US GAAP.

  • Define, analyze and coordinate the input of financial information into the general ledger. Evaluate, approve and provide accounting expertise.

  • Review reconciliations and journal entries of unique data requiring business knowledge, financial acumen and understanding of multiple transactions sources.

  • Prepare or review complex, non-routine financial reports and schedules.

  • Actively engage with non-accounting functions to understand processes and transactions to ensure information is accurately recorded to the general ledger in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate with accounting and compliance teams in the U.S., U.K., Singapore and India on streamlining accounting and reporting processes, identifying opportunities and areas for improvement and implementing changes.

  • Present problems with recommended solutions at the regional or global level, escalating issues appropriately.

  • Manage a team of qualified accountants, including overseeing their work performance, providing guidance in the resolution of problems and developing the team through coaching, feedback, exposure and stretch assignments.

  • Act with a clear sense of ownership, establishing clear responsibilities and processes for monitoring work and measuring results.

  • Support new initiative and special projects, as required.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting at a scaled US-listed technology company.

  • AICPA or equivalent, previous Big 4 or auditing experience is a plus.

  • Experienced with managing external auditors, corporate audit requests and participation in SOX walkthroughs.

  • Skilled Oracle or ERP system user, with, or interested in, working with more technical/data driven tools.

  • Strong attention to details, with ability to work under pressure while still maintaining information accuracy and effective controls.

  • Outstanding communication skills – including written and verbal communications, interpersonal, analytical, negotiating, and problem-solving skills; proven ability to work cross-functionally.

  • Willingness to embrace challenges and take on additional responsibilities to improve processes, reporting and procedures to support the organization.

  • High personal and professional integrity with a can-do attitude, desire to roll up your sleeves, and an ability to deliver outstanding work.

  • Fluency in English to the extent that you’re comfortable to use this as your primary working language.
