Job Description

​At Jacobs, our Power Solutions team is geared towards providing a more integrated approach offering end-to-end service to support our clients in energy networks, thermal generation, renewable generation and storage solutions space.  We are helping our clients meet the challenges faced in countries and cities across the globe, providing innovative solutions from replacing conventional thermal power plants with renewable energy to developing demand side management strategies.  

We are looking for an experienced Floating Solar Specialist to further build our existing strong capability in the Solar sector. Jacobs Asia Pacific Power business continues to grow to meet the needs of our clients who are investing in new renewable power generating capacity and associated infrastructure across the region.

This position will be based in our Jacobs Asia office.

Engineering and consultancy for solar PV projects (floating). Provides support and technical input to solar PV and other renewable energy projects in Asia. Assists in evaluating potential opportunities to offer new services to clients, and in facilitating new capabilities in Jacobs.

Ability to communicate safety and wellness considerations to others. Sustained commitment to safety engagement and intervention (Jacobs BeyondZero philosophy). Develops and maintain strong working relationships internally and externally.  Is a 'Team Player' and have a flexible interpersonal style to help facilitate a cohesive, collaborative and interactive team environment.

Participates in open and honest constructive feedback relating to project and team performance. Works with individuals and groups of individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Supports strong service delivery to all clients. Maintains strong personal network within the solar PV industry and wider renewable energy sector to help reinforce Jacobs market position.

Carry out solar energy assessments, solar pre-feasibility studies and solar project design.  Duties involving design review and site inspection. Undertake review solar park assests, condition, forecast operational expenditure and assest management plans.

Uses PV system/ Helios 3D software efficiently. Proactive day to day management of project and proposals inputs. Supports Designated Project Executives (DPEs), PM’s and CM’s in managing operational risk, including project delivery, EHS, quality and service. Ensure compliance with technical standards, quality & operational safety requirements, environmental constraints, as well as company policies and procedures.  Delivers technical work to agreed quality standards and in line with project objectives and client requirement. Delivers project requirements on time, on budget and to agreed quality and service.

Here's What You'll Need:

You should have a strong understanding of the regulatory environment that our clients operate in.  You should be able to demonstrate technical engineering capability and a willingness to actively contribute to and help drive both consolidation of existing markets and an “emerging market” strategy that assesses where Jacobs can position itself to win major projects in areas where Jacobs currently does not have a geographic or practice area presence.

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering with relevant years of experience in Solar PV. Experience in Design Solar PV Projects(rooftop, ground mounted, floating solar, tracking system, bifacial).

Able to design DC system package (DC wiring calculation, PV layout. fuses, breakers etc)., solar main equipment selection. Exposure to utility scale solar PV projects (10MW & above). Familiar with MS 1837:2018, ST RFP, ST LSS regulation, Excellence in MS Office (Project Word, Excel etc), Experience in AutoCAD 2D,  Exposure to high voltage substation (11kV/33kV/132kV/275kV) is an added advantage.

Have SEDA GCPV or OGPV certificate or equivalent, experience in preparing proposals, project costing & budgeting. Strong technical/commercial background with potentially diverse experience in the renewable energy sector. Track record in wind and solar farm operation, technical due diligence and site pre-feasibility studies.

Ability to develop and maintain client relationships. Construction and erection experience in wind and solar PV projects is an added advantage
