Come be a part of Microsoft Devices!  The Manufacturing and supply chain Finance team in China, within Devices Finance, is looking for a motivated individual with enthusiasm to take on a high impact role to focus on hardware production, CREW repair, supply chain asset management, as well as compliance control.

Our business partners in the Devices team are responsible for the Microsoft Hardware businesses including Xbox, Surface, HoloLens, Surface Hub, and PC accessories. The environment is dynamic and innovative, where the finance team partners with Operations and Business Teams.

The Manufacturing and supply chain Finance team in China contributes to Microsoft hardware business anddrives profitable growth by:

  • Managing global manufacturing for hardware products and CREW repair. Partner with operations to drive cost efficiency.

  • Ensuring control and compliance

  • Providing predictability. Scope risks and opportunities in manufacturing and repair cost

  • Being trusted leaders to our business partners (engaged & insightful)

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and responsible for financial planning, forecasting and budgeting for manufacturing in respective projects, in terms of ongoing reliability testing, launch, scrap, factory operation cost and capital area (test, tooling and production equipment).

  • Timely follow up ROB (Rhythm of Business) reporting cadence with quality deliverables, such as closing and forecast, LRP, budget etc.

  • Partnering with factory operations, sourcing, new product introduction (NPI) and development team to define appropriate business model and operation processes.

  • Be the Finance voice at the table for Manufacturing and guide all key financial decisions for optimal results.

  • Understand product manufacturing and repair process, responsible for cost of repair reporting, such as set up cost of repair model during EV (engineering validation) builds, weekly report during PV (product validation) builds, and monthly report and R&O (risk and opportunities) follow ups in monthly cadence once product stabilized.

  • Working closely with NPI, and optimizing manufacturing capacity installations as well as investment plan. Responsible for capital cost validation in respective project.

  • Drive cost initiatives to achieve business target.

  • Find a balance between leveraging suppliers and securing control compliance. Partner with cross function Finance peers, effective and timely communication to enable business success.

  • Manage supplier transformation cost analysis and report on respective projects.

  • Perform control compliance activities in asset, inventory and PPV settlement areas.

  • Negotiate with several contract management suppliers to settle PPV(e.g. Purchased price variance) and related variance settlement on a regular basis.

  • Timely follow up with functional team (e.g. Sourcing/Sourcing finance, etc.) to resolve pricing issue/negotiation/process improvement/etc.

  • Providing predictability, which is to have scope risks and opportunities visibility during PPV process.

  • Strong subjective initiative, willing to work with cross-function teams to for related process improvement (e.g. Pricing, etc.)

  • Data loading and validation for process automation related reports (such as Power BI), to enable visualization of business/operation performance.

  • Other ad hoc assigned by managers.

Qualifications

  • A minimum qualification of Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, math or related field.

  • Approximately 5-8 years of demonstrated work experience covering operation finance control activities, preferred in manufacturing and supply chain.

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment: Devices Finance is a very dynamic team and individual must be able to work in an environment where everything is not fully defined. The ability to work in fluid setting and define things and strategize is critical.

  • Financial analysis & modeling skills. This role requires a hands-on approach, and the individual must be comfortable in rolling up his/her sleeves and diving in. Knowledge of process automation is preferred.

  • Able to handle multiple workstreams in a fast-paced change management- Fail fast and learn.

  • Able to handle diverse stakeholders with a high degree of ambiguity - Be relentless and push back when required.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English, including an ability to communicate effectively with senior management and business partners.

  • Great collaboration, teamwork, and business partnership: Extremely important for the person in role to possess great collaboration skills and able to build network.

  • Willingness to travel and perform factory compliance audit ( ~30%).
