Job Description
DESCRIPTION
Amazon is looking for an energetic, detail-oriented individual to join our Data Center Engineering Operations Team. This committed group works to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports Amazon Web Services. Specifically, this team works to ensure that the data center's MEP operates at 100% availability while maintaining first-class customer service to the teams and groups within the data centers.
The Data Center Engineering Operation engineer is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating within contract parameters within third party Colocation facilities. Often this will be including risk management and mitigation, corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management and metric reporting.
Responsibilities:
• Collection of data, conduct analysis, and prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility operations and maintenance
• Responsible for the on-site management of sub-contractors, vendors, colocation providers to ensure all work performed is in accordance with operation procedures and safety requirement
• Responsible for the operation of and management of both routine and emergency services on a variety of critical facilities such as: switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, etc.
• Support data center capacity planning, asset and inventory management
• Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
• Troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLA
• Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work
• Retrieve and analyze daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment
• Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows
• May assist in the design and build out of new facilities
• May assist in projects to increase current Facility efficiency
• Work with stakeholders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability and efficiency
• Procurement of engineering operations related tools, setup and expenditure
• Contribute to the overall availability and reliability of data centre operations
• Support hardware and network diagnostics and physical repair
• Install equipment, create documentation and innovate solutions
• Candidates must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Able to work on 12 hours shift

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• An engineering degree or equivalent
• Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout (copper / fiber), low / high voltage (copper/ fiber) cabling, building monitoring and alarming systems
• Working knowledge of Data Center Facilities (e.g. switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, UPS, transformers, electrical sub distribution systems, fire detection and suppression systems, cable reticulation systems)
• 1+ years of electrical, mechanical HVAC, fire protection engineering experience in critical infrastructure
• 2+ years of facilities management experience, Prior mission-critical operations and project experience will be an added advantage
• Basic networking, switches and router experience
• High degree of organization and detail-orientation
• Excellent written and verbal English communications skills
• Ability to consistently deliver results despite competing priorities and distractions
• Ability to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environment
• Basic networking, switching and routing experience
• Ability to lift and move 18 kg of equipment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline.
- 2+ years of Data Center engineering operation experience
- Appropriate Security and Safety awareness
- Data center or Engineering related certificates; CDCP, CDCS, ATS, ATD, PMP, LEED, and others
