Contracts Manager

The Contracts Manager drafts, reviews and negotiates Customer contract requests, various contract documents, develops contract templates, and coordinates with cross-functional partners as needed. The Contracts Manager supports the global sales teams as well as other sales support organizations and assists their Global Legal Solutions team in creating and maintaining global processes.
Responsibilities
Contract Management
Drafts and reviews Customer requests to ensure that the customer agreements properly reflect the Customer and Equinix's position and are approved for Sales in a timely fashion
Works closely with Sales, Sales Operations and Sales Engineers or Customer Service Managers on customer agreements
Provides contract interpretation guidance
Evaluates legal requests/contracts issues to ensure compliance to company policy and other requirements and notifies the appropriate parties of any non-compliance
Conducts additional contract research and interpretation, and, together with Analyst research findings, provides guidance on day-to-day issues, including transactional and non-transactional matters
Assists in drafting and revising form agreements
Collaborates with various Equinix departments (e.g., Sales, Operations, Finance, product management, and insurance) cross-functionally to develop potential solutions for customer requests or contracts, and seeking applicable approvals when necessary to stay within Equinix guidelines
Assists Bid Management to analyzes customer requests for information (e.g., RFQs, RFPs, and RFIs), advises commercial leaders on how best to respond, and drafts responses to ensure quick, accurate, and comprehensive responses
Customer Lifecycle Management Tasks
Prioritizes work based on deal size and complexity to generate the most sales and profit for the company
Responsible for monitoring any general contract requests and handling specific customer requested language
Customer Contracts Administration
Assists with general contract administration, including but not limited to data entry, reporting, and filing
Completes customer contract administrative tasks, including but not limited to review of early contract termination, notifications,, price increases, renewals, amendments and customer rights to ensure changes are properly documented
Ensures proper approvals for contract execution/process are obtained, valid and properly tracked
Provides contract interpretation guidance to affected internal partners as needed
Drafts straightforward letters to customers
Performs other non-Customer Contracts related tasks such as discovery support, litigation assistance and project based research and drafting (i.e., Product Descriptions or Channel Engagement Team)
Provides general administrative support for systems used by the Global Legal Solutions team, Global Contracts team, and overall Global Legal Operations and Strategic Services function, including but not limited to the Apttus contract management system, SharePoint, SFDC, ServiceNow, Seibel, Oracle etc.
Drafts non-standard customer correspondence
Process Management
Champions contract and system policy and procedure revision and improvement, including the creation of templates and playbooks under the supervision of attorneys
Develops and implements appropriate contract templates, language and procedures, including finding opportunities to streamline processes regarding the development, negotiation and execution of commercial and supplier contracts to help increase global consistency and coordination among Equinix regional teams
Stays abreast of internal and external changes and evolutions, including Equinix business strategies, goals and objectives, market and industry trends, as well as legal and regulatory developments and requirements
Assists in developing and disseminating both the Global Legal Operations and Strategic Services and Global Contracts department's processes
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 3-6 years of first-hand experience updating and negotiating contracts mentioned above preferred
Additional law, business or contract certifications or additional training highly desirable
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a culturally diverse and global team
Exercise mature, professional and reliable judgement while enjoying the Company's enthusiastic, informal and fast-paced environment.
Ability to respond quickly and pragmatically to urgent situations and demanding clients.
Previous experience with contract management system (CLM) highly desirable
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Great teammate with a customer service focus and the ability to relate to employees with a wide variety of personalities and functional expertise. Previous experience working with sales personnel preferred.
Multiple language fluency is highly desirable
