Job Description
DESCRIPTION
Since early 2006, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has provided companies of all sizes with an infrastructure platform in the cloud. Using AWS, companies can requisition compute power, storage, and other services – gaining access to a global computing infrastructure that is the backbone of Amazon.com’s multi-billion dollar retail business. Today, AWS is the world leader in providing a highly reliable, scalable, low-cost infrastructure platform in the cloud powering hundreds of thousands of businesses from start-ups to multi-national corporations to governments around the world. Innovation is in our DNA. Our approach to product development and delivery is fundamentally different than other technology companies, which has allowed us to ensure that our customers have the broadest, deepest, and most secure platform to build transformational applications and services since 2006.
The AWS Data Center Planning and Delivery team is seeking a passionate, talented, and proven executive responsible for overseeing end to end delivery of data center capacity across the Asia Pacific (APAC) Region.
The Director of APAC Center Delivery manages the delivery of new data center supply from initial planning through customer hand-off. This role is responsible for bridging internal customers, business functions (finance, procurement, legal etc.), and functional delivery teams (design, construction, controls, etc.) to enable on-time and right sized delivery of new data center capacity. On an ongoing basis, this leader oversees and audits development of expansion plans and build schedules through evaluation of multiple factors such as rationality of demand forecasts, supply planning inputs like power utilization, real estate and/or colocation supply, equipment availability, and utility delivery such as power, water, and fiber. This leader establishes performance metrics and mechanisms, and drives continuous process improvement and automation that enable teams to meet their committed delivery schedules. Further, this leader drives capacity optimization programs to ensure that that existing capacity is usable.
This role requires global knowledge of all in-flight projects, major risks, and in-depth knowledge of ongoing issues and remediation efforts. The leader in this role must proactively identify and escalate risks, manage issues, define mitigation plans, and drive teams across the organization to deliver against their commitments. With hundreds of projects in flight at any given time, to be successful, the leader for this organization must be capable of building mechanisms and metrics that trigger awareness and action. When existing plans fail to meet business needs, this leader identifies alternatives or improvement plans and communicates up, down, and across the organization to gain support and commitment for a new plan of record.
