Latest Career News on Prominent Female Executives across Industry:
Earlier this month it was revealed that Helen Wong Pik-kuen, chief executive for Greater China and the bank's highest ranked woman, has resigned, hot on the heels of the ouster of chief executive John Flint.
The surprise departures of the two top executives comes as the bank embarks on a major revamp.
Ms Wong became HSBC's chief executive for Greater China in 2010, having joined HSBC in 1992 and worked her way up steadily through the ranks. Wong has 30 years’ banking experience in the Greater China and Asia-Pacific region.
During her leadership in China she led the expansion of the British bank’s mainland Chinese business, establishing HSBC as the largest foreign bank in China and played a key role in positioning HSBC at the vanguard of foreign banks in the internationalisation of the renminbi.
She oversaw 47,000 staff in the Greater China region. On her departure she advised that she is pursuing external opportunities.
