The Senior Systems Assurance Engineer role will provide specialist advice on safety and systems assurance expertise on transport projects.The Primary responsibilities are in the identification of and management of safety assurance through the life cycle of the project and Input to Safety in Design reviews and consideration of safety in relation to construction, maintenance, and decommissioning.
You will provide safety assurance principles from a system engineering approach on projects, specifically along the lines provisioned in EN 50126. Effectively identify interfaces between disciplines and look at applying proven processes to provide assurance that risks have been identified. In addition, you will be involved in the review of projects from the perspective of reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM). You value and enjoy builidng relationship with a focus on people culture and you will work effectively and efficiently within Rail team and within the industry. You will be providing support in the said section regarding the transfer of knowledge and development of junior/ midlevel staff.
- Involved in interdisciplinary design reviews to identify safety issues, or those pertaining to RAM
- Effectively liaise with internal Jacobs teams to manage the safety assurance approach on projects
- Balance workload to meet expectations – collaborate with Design / Project Managers
- Identify and communicate resource availability / constraints/ plan/ lead audits on risk, safety, and compliance
- Assist resource sharing opportunities across the wider Jacobs business and Supporting Project Managers / Projects Directors managing operational risk, including project delivery, quality, and service
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- An Engineering Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical, registered with BEM working towards obtaining a Professional Engineering (PE)
- Having worked in a rail environment, either on construction/design projects, or in the maintenance and operation of a railway
- Authored SA plans for project implementation
- Planned and lead PHA and HAZOP activities
- Successful production of Safety Assurance Plans and management of safety assurance deliverables on projects
- Ideally qualification as a functional safety engineer
