As an Ocean Freight Supervisor, you will be providing support and coordinating ocean freight trade services, products, and operations. This exciting opportunity allows you to work with carriers, ocean freight systems, and drive operational process improvement. You will be in-charge of supervising specialists within the department.

Job Responsibilities:
 
Ocean operations knowledge
  • Develop a detailed understanding of processes, procedures, and technology for intermodal transportation.

  • Identify the root cause of recurring issues within freight forwarding operations and have an overview of the general structure of freight forwarding operation.                                             

Assist and participate in costing and pricing

  • Assist in maintaining and updating the cost/sell system to ensure proper tracking of data.

  • Establishes pricing for clients to obtain UPS SCS planned net revenue and net operation income.

  • Produces ocean freight selling tariffs to identify customer costs.                                                         

Participate in ocean operation processes and procedures development                           

  • Standardize and maintain processes to improve operations.

  • Drive process improvement with stations and gateways to derive down unit cost and improve profitability.

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for developing the necessary action plans to ensure regulatory compliance.

Executes Global control Tower Activities                          

  • Maintain network performance monitoring and make recommendations to pursue service and cost improvement opportunities.

  • Create communications plans to convey customer specific requirements to appropriate stakeholders.

  • Support project initiatives such as new product lunches and secure business opportunities to ensure successful execution.                                                                        

Supervise and develop others  

  • Determine employees’ training needs to ensure that they are on continuous development.

  • Provide ongoing feedback and support to improve performance.

  • Partner with employees to ensure that their individual and group goals are able to meet the targeted performance levels.

 
Job Requirements:
  • You will be a college graduate or have a Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Trade Management or Customs Clearance.

  • More than 5 years of experience in the ocean freight industry (International ocean cargo preferred). Has profound knowledge in legal, regulatory and compliance.

  • Skilled in people and operation management. You would also have some experience in procurement.

  • Solid negotiation skills to liaise with vendors or carriers.

  • Strong command in written and spoken English.                                                       
  • Good in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
