We require a Lead Transmission Lines Engineer to carry out overhead transmission line design for low voltage and high voltage transmission lines. Jacobs recognise the transmission line industry has experienced professionals in distribution line design who may like to enhance their careers in overhead line design, we’re open to hearing from you! Training and support will be provided to upskill your career to become a Transmission Line Engineer in high voltage design.

Your eventual Transmission Line role responsibilities will include:

  • Ability to develop new business with existing & new clients. Existing connections within Transpower preferred.
  • Provides technical leadership and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
  • Ability to develop strong engineering service proposals and fee estimates
  • Exciting overhead transmission line design projects for a variety of interesting projects in Power, Mining, Utility and Infrastructure clients throughout ANZ, Malaysia and the UK.
  • Utilising PLS CADD, POLE and TOWER to perform design work. Training will be provided to Distribution Line Designers with skills/ experience in Distribution Line Design.
  • Working within AS/NZS, Client Standards, ASCE, IEEE and IEC guidelines.

 Here's What You'll Need:
 

Preferably, you’ll hold a relevant bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering and at least 15 years’ experience in overhead transmission line engineering.

As a Lead Transmission Line Engineer, we’re looking for your knowledge in the following areas:

  • Experience in scoping and developing engineering design documents for pole relocation, UGOH positioning, clearance assessment for vegetation and ground clearance.
  • Working knowledge of Utility Distribution Line Standards highly desirable.
  • Experience in distribution line design for overhead and UGOH poles.
  • Electrical and structural criteria in line design preferred but not essential.
  • Prior experience in design software such as Powerlines Pro, Poles n Wires, CYMCAP and/or NPOLEs.
  • Advanced user of PLS CADD, TOWER and POLE
