Position Overview:

We are looking for a talented leader for the role of Director of Application Engineering to manage and optimize the development and engineering practices in a fast-paced agile environment. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall design, development and delivery of the next generation technology solutions to enable Autodesk's Sales, Marketing and Customer Success business functions in support of the overall business strategy. This role is also responsible for collaborating with the respective stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and vendors in ensuring well-defined technology roadmap, user stories and prioritized product backlogs while ensuring best practices for application development are being followed.


  • Build and lead a highly talented, top-performing, autonomous engineering development teams
  • Oversee end-to-end software engineering, application development including SaaS implementations, mobile development, application integration, API's and Packaged software implementation
  • Review and participate in key architecture and technical design decisions
  • Assist in definition of technology roadmaps, products and improvements aligned with appropriate product and business roadmaps
  • Advance architecture, process, and tools through innovation, cutting edge technology and research
  • Drive continuous improvement and automates tools, processes, and technology to allow for greater engineering throughput, quality, capabilities, skills and delivery
  • Responsible for deliverables including, but not limited to:  release schedule, technology roadmap, prioritized backlog, product quality and documentation and status reports.
  • Able to measure organizational progress and health through metrics and results
  • Foster great business relationships by partnering with key stakeholders and cross functional leadership teams
  • People management responsibilities including hiring talent, professional growth of direct reports, building new teams and vendor resource management
  • Support and troubleshoot production issues
  • Work with IT Operations to advance existing DevOps strategy for the build and deployment of software solutions
  • Work closely with enterprise architects and department leadership teams to explore new technologies and promote an agile culture
  • Provide expertise in identifying and translating system requirements into software design documentation
  • Lead architecture and technical design discussions, technical design/specifications, and code reviews with key stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science / Information Systems or equivalent experience
  • 15 years software development & architecture experience, with at least 6 years of progressive leadership experience managing engineering delivery with Agile/SCRUM practices
  • Experience working with internal and outsourced staffing models
  • Application Lifecycle Management, SDLC, and Support, Traditional & Agile PM Methodologies
  • Project Planning, Estimating, Scheduling, Tracking, Budgeting, and Reporting
  • Risk & Issue Planning (Identification, Mitigation, Resolution)
  • Strong Diagnostic & Analytical Capabilities
  • Excellent Written & Oral Communication Skills with all levels of management
  • Ability to prepare formal management presentations, along with organizing and conducting effective meetings
  • Considerable knowledge of data security and privacy regulations and requirements and software development best practices for compliance
  • Experience in Programming Languages/Frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of cloud and SaaS technology
  • Knowledge in Sales, Marketing and Customer Success domains
  • Experience in SaaS applications like Salesforce, Marketo, Adobe Experience Platform, with at least 1 major SaaS implementation experience
  • Experience with cloud services specifically AWS
  • Thrive and lead effectively in a highly dynamic, rapidly changing, and fast-paced environment
