Job Description

Position Purpose:

Lead import and export compliance program for Australia to fully comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures. To be the primary contact for all routine customs and trade compliance and serve as the local interface for the business units and the Regional Sourcing and Logistics team 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Understand Business foot print and develop Logistics and trade compliance capability to meet business and government needs

  • Implement the trade compliance program and establish import and export procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations

  • Oversee and communicate regulatory changes and their impact to businesses

  • Report any non-routine / unplanned Events to regional Trade compliance leaders

  • Manage all Customs enquiries relating to HS codes, licenses, valuation and other permits

  • Provide guidance and training to businesses and other functions groups help them to understand the regulatory requirements

  • Ensure that all documentation is maintained for audit as per country regulation requirements

  • Manage Security Compliance Programs / AEO programs for efficient supply chain

  • Implement internal controls for import and export operations by using the right systems and tools

  • Conduct Internal audits to identify gaps and lead the improvement plans

  • Monitor, track and report compliance metrics to regional leaders

  • Drive cost savings, especially in customs duty savings from FTAs and other duty saving programs

  • Maintain a database of licenses / authorizations and ensure they are updated in timely manner.

  • Represent country compliance team, and act as a focal person for regional and global compliance networks

  • Raise awareness for Trade Compliance requirements (national and International regulations). Work with other key internal Stakeholders like PS&R and Order Fulfillment teams

  • Monitor KPIs for Customs Brokers to ensure right duty and right declarations are made to Customs authorities

  • Lead Import/export operations and compliance activities and provide support to business with focus on First Order process towards full compliance

  • Strong business engagement to understand client VOCs, spend and develop logistics capability to meet business need

  • Manage import and export integrator by providing overall guidance, training and having a regular meeting to align SOPs for operations and implement KPIs

  • Manage import export suppliers/agents and drive continuous improvement projects with them


  • Bachelor Degree

  • Other professional/ government certificates in supply Chain / logistics / Customs area

  • 6-8 year of experience in import and export operations

  • Strong knowledge of local/regional, international trade and import and export regulations

  • Team work and high ethical standards

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Good knowledge of logistics processes, Shipping and customs procedures

  • Knowledge of key metrics for managing logistics functional performance
